The Forum is unique in retail
for developing the potential of senior managers

John Dean John Dean
Chief Executive bssa

The Oxford Retail Masters Forum was established in 2006, following an identified gap in generic retail development at a senior level within the Industry. For nearly 80 years the Association has been running the Oxford Summer School for less experienced managers.

Now this expertise has been amalgamated with assistance from the retail seat at the Saïd Business School at Oxford University to produce the Oxford Retail Masters Forum.

The Forum looks at the overall challenges facing the retail world of both today and tomorrow with the assistance of recognised experts in specific fields such as global sourcing, ethical trading, demography, business management and climate change.

Nothing like the Forum exists currently – it is unique. It is a chance to network with other companies, learn from world class speakers and to stretch yourself in a challenging but supportive environment. Companies such as Harrods, John Lewis, B&Q, Comet and WH Smith have participated and I urge you to consider widening your retail horizons by attending yourself or sending colleagues on the next Forum.

The Masters Forum is aimed at:
• Senior head office managers
• Regional and area managers
• Retail owner-managers
• Senior store managers

The benefits to the individual are:
• An opportunity to test the quality of their thinking and understanding
• Practical ideas for enhancing their own business
• A chance to meet and learn from some of the best in the industry
• Deepen insight into both current and future challenges
• Networking opportunities
• Enhance overall retail effectiveness

The benefits to the business are:
• Learning forums ensuring practical ideas are shared and capitalised upon in your own business
• Widens horizons and stimulates new approaches to your current and future business challenges
• Enables your best managers to become even better!
